January 14th 2010

Following a recent update that introduced the Ovi Store to N900 users, another update is now being rolled out from tomorrow - and it's being called 'the big one'. A significant number of bugs have been fixed, along with new features and support.
One of the many updates is full compatibility with the USIM cards used by 3, meaning the N900 can now be used by all 3 users.
Other highlights include:
- Support for Microsoft Exchange 2003.
- Improvements in graphic performance.
- Lower RAM consumption when recording video.
- Email improvements with large mailboxes.
- Ovi Maps improvements with better searching and route calculation.
- Bluetooth file transfer progress indication.
- Wi-Fi stability improvements.
- New voicemail shortcut.
- Audio/Video sync fix for video files.
- Improved charging via PC powered USB charging.
- Content copier of PC Suite enabled.
- Improved thumbnails in image viewer.
- Dialer now accepts SS (3GPP TS 22.030) dial strings including *#06# for IMEI display.
A detailed changelog is now available, or you can view a simplified summary here.
The update can be performed over the air (OTA) as long as you have a recent firmware build that supports the feature (such as the recent PR1.0.1 update). Otherwise updating is possible via USB and a computer.
